Served as the sole employee for Oklahomans for Responsible Water Policy’s (ORWP) 501c3 and 501c4 nonprofit organizations. Worked in-hand with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to develop elementary and middle school curriculum and materials on watershed resources using GIS software, geospatial datasets, Adobe Photoshop, and other materials. Personally executed the curriculum for grades 3-6 in the public school system for 10 different communities in Southeast Oklahoma. Each student received a map of their watershed, which I developed using GIS software and datasets.
Worked closely with US Army Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Water Resources Board, tribal entities, and other nonprofit organizations to refine and expand the curriculum I developed at ORWP. Conducted geospatial research to determine possible habitat for endangered species, such as the Interior Least Tern, for the purposes of sustainable land management practices. Develop and deliver presentations to groups such as the Red River Valley Association. Effectively communicate with a board of 15 members. Conduct outreach at fairs and festivals. Develop news articles, advertisements, radio announcements, and make appearances on television for local news outlets such as KTEN and KXII.

Climate Change and Phenology Intern

Recipient of the George Wright Climate Change Initiative internship from the University of Washington. Collaborated with community educators, park biologists, and GIS specialists to develop a web feature on Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park’s phenology program. The web feature is located at www.nps.gov/features/seki and was constructed using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS programming languages.
Developed curriculum based upon the web feature for 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students in accordance with California state education standards. Field tested the curriculum with students at a public school near the park.

Wrote a long-term sustainable management plan certifiable by the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) and Oklahoma’s Forest Stewardship Project. The forest is 120 acres of diverse forest that has been managed for old-growth since the 1940s, which began with my great-grandfather. The forest has the oldest pine in the valley and a state-champion hickory tree. Currently continue to aid landowner in formulating and supervising sustainable land management projects.
